i taped my glasses, i'm officially a nerd

{ this post is sponsored by GlassesUSA.com }

I’m blind. Without my contacts and eyeglasses I cannot see anything.
It’s bad and it’s been this way since the 3rd grade.

Growing up I hated that I had to wear glasses.
But if you saw the glasses my mom picked out for me, you’d hate them too.

I usually wear contacts during the day and my glasses at home.
I choose to wear my glasses only at home because I feel like I can never find the perfect frame for the shape of my face. So this may be the only time you'll see a picture of me in my glasses
{oh, and please excuse my messy hair, I don't know what's going on with it}

Anyways, I finally found a pair that I felt comfortable in and I’ve had them for a few years. But the other night I was extremely lazy and laid my glasses on the floor next to my bed. Guess who forgot and stepped on them the next morning? Yep … this blind girl who obliviously couldn’t even see the floor.

I wanted to cry.

You know in the movie A Christmas Story when Ralphie steps on his glasses and breaks them?
That's exactly how I felt and I thought of that scene as soon as I did it. So random.

I did tape up my poor glasses with scotch tape because I don’t have that kind of money to just go out and buy me a brand new pair. I never thought I'd ever have to do this. I always wondered why people did it in the first place. I mean when someone dresses up as a nerd for Halloween, they tape their glasses.

I'm pretty sure this means I'm a nerd now right?

Thankfully I have an old pair. I am wearing them in the pictures and Sophia is “wearing” my broken eyeglasses frames. In reality I have been wearing the taped glasses because its a newer prescription but I decided to have Sophia play the nerd with the taped glasses for this post.

At least they are aren't taped on the nose part. And maybe next time I'll use black tape.

But I honestly think that breaking my glasses was a sign.
A few days before I broke them I was contacted by GlassesUSA to do a sponsored post.
I checked out the site as soon as my glasses broke looking for a pair of cheap glasses.

GlassesUSA.com had a ton of different styles to choose from.
I was very shocked when I saw the low, affordable prices. The site was very easy to use and they even had a whole section of coupons and sales to use towards your purchase.

They also have a virtual mirror {below} that you can use to pretty much “try on” a frame before you buy it.

So if you’re in need of a new pair like me then I encourage you to visit their website and before you check out
use code Blog10 for 10% of any order of prescription glasses

wordless{ish} wednesday: fake smiles & weirdness

See this smile?

It's fake.

I asked Sophia to smile and she closes her eyes and sticks out her tongue. I then asked her again and she does this while making a weird noise.

My daughter can be very cute but she's also very weird sometimes.

For instance:

The picture above, she's randomly sitting in the road instead of on the curb.. kind of weird.

This morning they gave her toast and butter at the daycare and she just ate the butter with her fingers. Then handed me the butter-less toast ... weird.

BUT I don't blame her, I secretly love butter and would probably do the same thing but I feel as an adult I should know better.

This evening while we were out to dinner she decides to just lick the chairs ... very weird.

What's funny about that is Gary was closer to her and I said "Gary she's licking chairs" and the woman next to us burst out laughing. If I was someone who didn't have children watching a family with a child that was licking chairs I'd probably be so weirded out. But now that I'm mom I'd totally understand if I saw another child doing this.

I wish I had a picture of her licking chairs.

I love the way Sophia is. I love that she is a little weird ... weird is fun. She makes me laugh and keeps me entertained all day long with her weirdness. I'm pretty sure she got it from both Gary and I. We can be so weird sometimes, but I think everyone is in their own ways. Normal is boring anyways.

Happy Wednesday everyone!

butterfly, ladybug.. same thing

Sophia and I found a butterfly today in our backyard.
As soon as Sophia saw it she started saying "Buh-fly!"

She loves butterflies and I remembered seeing a set of wings in Sophia's room that my mom bought for her. I ran inside thinking it'd be cute for Sophia to wear her butterfly wings after seeing a real one.

I found the wings but they weren't butterfly wings. They were ladybug wings. Oh well.
I ran them back outside and Sophia smiled so big and said "Buh-fly".

Butterfly, lady bug .. same thing. As long as Sophia's happy.

She wore them while she played outside in her sand box.

It was another perfect evening. We played while Gary cooked for us again on the grill.
We drank capris suns and ate candy corn until the food was ready.

My hand looks so weird in that picture. But Sophia's looks super cute. And that candy corn... I could eat them all day. One of my million reasons why I love fall.

My little butterfly/ladybug is already sound asleep. After the tantrums she threw before and after these pictures I can see why she's so exhausted. I don't know if it's because we're getting closer to two years old but wow. That's all I'll say about the tantrums I've witnessed today. Maybe that explains the headaches I had all day at work today. Or maybe it's bc I stayed up messing around on the blog and reading others last night.

I'll just blame both. Goodnight everyone.

sandbox fun

I should really be sleeping right now but instead I'm uploading pictures from this evening. I also messed around with the blog and decided I'd start taking sponsor swaps again. So if you'd like to hang out on the side of my blog click here. We'd love to have you!!

Our evening was spent outside playing in Sophia's new sandbox and eating grilled steak and pork chops that Gary made. They were delicious.

My mom bought this sandbox for Sophia at a yard sale for $20! It's perfect and Sophia loves it. We have spent most of our evenings just outside watching her play in it. The weather has been cooler so it's been perfect just to sit outside. Well besides the mosquitos.

This cooler weather means that Summer is almost over. I'm kind of sad that Summer is almost over. We spent a lot of time outside but I look back and wish more of our time was spent outside. I think we spent a lot of time inside trying to fix up the house after our move.

We'll be spending out last weekend of Summer next weekend in VA Beach. Gary starts his new position at work shortly after so we're going to need this short vacation.

Hopefully I can keep up with updating the blog. I have really slacked the last couple of months. I honestly don't know how a lot of you are able to blog every day with children and sometimes even full time jobs. I'm exhausted by the time I get home from work until Sophia is asleep. I did drink a lot of caffeine today and I'm still up, maybe that's the secret.

Oh and technically it's 8/21 but I started this post on 8/20 which means it was Sophia's 22 months!! I really need to do a monthly update this month bc this girl has changed so much!

After dinner today we went over to a little playground at an Elementary School close to our house and Sophia pointed to the slides and said "Slide, Wee!" and she also pointed to her shirt and said "Bike!".

Sophia actually says A LOT now. I will be doing a post on all this sometime this week.

I wish I would have taken my camera to the playground. Sophia had the biggest smile on her face the whole time we were there. She ran around and held out her hands for me when she found a slide she wanted to go down. I climbed up all the equipment {i don't know what else to call them} and went down all the slides with her. She would just look at me and smile so big!

What made it even more special is that it's the Elementary School I went to as a kid and the same playground I ran around on years ago.

This evening was perfect

I'm already excited about getting off work tomorrow and playing outside all evening.

wordless{ish} wednesday: sleeping baby & NJ trip

I really don’t know why I even title these posts Wordless Wednesday because each one has words. I really don’t think I could do a post without words. I guess I just enjoy linking up on all the websites and being able to read/see other WW posts.

Also, thinking of blog titles are a little difficult for me. It takes me no time to type up a post but thinking of a title for the post is the hardest for me. I need to be a little more creative. So doing a Wordless Wednesday takes care of that for me, for just one day out of the week.
Anyway, look how sweet Sophia looked this morning sleeping on her stomach.

Usually she sleeps like her daddy, on her back with her arms and legs everywhere & mouth wide open. Poor girl. This morning she decided to be more lady like and sleep like that. I just stared at her. Something about a sleeping baby. She used to sleep like this on my chest when she was a newborn. Oh, how I miss those days. I love how she is now and I can’t wait to watch her grow but I’ll always miss that newborn stage… until I have another.
Yep, pretty sure I’m now diagnosed with baby fever.
We leave for NJ/NY tomorrow evening. Well, I’m hoping that’s when we leave. Sophia’s longest car trip is when we go to VA Beach to visit Gary’s family. Gary and I leave during the night to make it easier on Sophia so she can sleep the whole way. It works every time.
I am going on this trip with my parents. They are weird and like to leave in the morning. I have mentioned multiple times that leaving at night would make it easier on all of us and we would have one extra day there. They haven’t given me a definite answer. I even volunteered to drive the whole way. Bleh.
Either way I am very excited for this trip. The only thing that I am not happy about is that Gary is not coming with us. He has to work Thursday and Sunday night and it would just be too much for him to have to have to make up, so he says. He also said that he would feel left out bc no one speaks English. I think that’s the main reason but there’s nothing wrong with that. But I guess we do need a weekend away from each other.
My grandparents will be celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary this weekend so we could not miss this. Plus a lot of my other family members will be there that we haven’t seen in forever so it’s going to a good time. A good time with Spanish speaking people, no English!
Have a good Wednesday Everyone. I’ll be back to post before we leave!

Newborn Baby and Happiness

This past Thursday one of my best friends gave birth to her beautiful baby girl. I went to visit her the next day after work and I fell in love with Layla.

I got to hang out with Heather and I just got to hold baby Layla. I was a little nervous at first. For some reason I get all weird holding other newborn babies but after I get comfortable I will hold them forever.

Holding a newborn made me want another baby SO bad. I think any mom would say that. Holding Layla was just so peaceful compared to my "baby" now. Sophia will not let me hold her for more than 5 minutes. I miss the newborn stage.

After spending time with Heather and Layla I feel like with my next child I will be calmer and better prepared. I guess things would be a little easier the second time around. Am I crazy for wanting another baby already? I mean Soph will be two in just 2 months....

Ok. No more crazy talk.

Lets just focus on Sophia and how watching her outside running and laughing brings so much happiness to me.

Earlier this day Sophia and I went on a dinner date, just the two of us. It was perfect. I was a little nervous at first going to eat by myself with a toddler but she was so good.

We went to Dairy Queen and shared a chicken basket and we had ice cream with sprinkles for dessert. Sophia behaved so good and just sat and ate with me. We talked, played and ate all our food. Sophia actually stole the ice cream and ate it all. She looked at the women behind us and said "I'm done" to them. We all just laughed.

It was such a relaxing and perfect dinner date.

We spent that evening in our backyard. Where we are most of the time. That's why most of my pictures are in the same spot but this little one is the happiest in our backyard. I am very thankful to have this yard that we all can enjoy. All these pictures make me so happy.

Ah, these pictures just make this newborn wanting momma so happy.

wordless{ish} wednesday: slide

Happy first of the month everyone!

We spent the first day of August enjoying perfect weather outside and sliding down slides.

I have also made goals for this month. These goals are to spend as much time as we can outside before summer ends, blog more and take tons of pictures of Sophia doing whatever/everything. So I apologize in advance if my blog is taken over of just pictures. Sophia is just growing up too fast and I don't want to ever regret not having enough pictures of her or not documenting everything.
